January 4th Meeting: Katie Kindilian

The Franklin Art Association’s January 4th meeting will feature a demonstration by Katie Kindilian.

Katie Kindilien grew up in Norwalk, CT and currently lives in New Haven. She received her undergraduate degree in painting from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. A year spent studying in Rome became a lifelong inspiration to paint and travel and study art from around the world. She received her Masters in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University and taught elementary and middle school art in New Haven for 25 years. Along the way Katie has continued painting, traveling, and studying with wonderful artists and teachers such as Julian Merrow-Smith, Stephanie Birdsall and Paul Foxton.

Katie was an Artist in Residence at the Art Association of Nantucket. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and art associations throughout New England, including Manhattanville College and the Essex Art Association.

Margaret Munson Work at Morini Gallery

Margaret Munson’s 9″ by 12” pastel painting Sunflower Swan Song has been accepted into the upcoming show at the Morini Gallery in Mansfield. In addition, she has two pastel paintings in the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod Members Open Online Exhibition. These works can be viewed on their website (http://www.ppscc.org) and runs from 11/11/2022 to 1/18/2023.

Harvest Festival

The Franklin Art Association’s Harvest Festival Exhibit will be held Saturday October 1st in conjunction with the Downtown Partnership’s Harvest Festival — see the prospectus for full details.  The drop off for this show is Friday September 30th at 5:30 PM at the Rockland Trust Annex, no pre-registration required.  Entrants must have their FAA membership up to date.  If you wish to participate in the show your time contributing to the show’s success is requested – please sign up to volunteer here.

January 5th: Award-Winning Photographer Ronald Zincone

Start off the new year with a bang – or, a flash?  Come to our January 5th meeting for a session with Ronald Zincone, an award-winning photographer based out of North Kingston, RI.  Ronald is a continuing education student in the Photography program at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography (NYIP).   Ronald’s work spans a variety of subjects from classic New England shores to astrophotography.  Sample a taste of his works at https://www.ronaldzinconephotography.com/ and then come meet him at our January 5th, 2022 meeting — 7:00 PM at the Franklin Senior Center.

Group session to share artwork, ideas and enjoy painting/drawing together

The Franklin Art Association will hold a special holiday get-together on Wednesday, December 1st, 7:00 PM at the Franklin Senior Center.  Members and guests are invited to bring a piece or two of their own artwork to share, and to spend the evening painting or drawing in a group.  Painting ideas will be shared in a congenial, social atmosphere with holiday music playing and special snacks.  Association meetings are open to the public.  Come and see what your local artists are doing!

Yes, we’re baaack!  Our first in-person meeting of the season will be Wednesday, October 6th, with a short business meeting starting at 6:45 followed by this month’s presentation by guest artist Deborah Freedman.
