I worked as a nurse from 1970 until 2008. I loved this profession and was sad when I had to retire because of severe arthritis. I was always interested in artistic and creative mediums, and was able to do more when I stopped working. I designed and made stained glass for many years, and sold pieces in galleries on Cape Cod and Newport, RI. The arthritis in my hands and spine eventually forced me to stop working in stained glass.
After retirement I was able to focus more on photography and I taught myself to paint with watercolors. After I saw an artist demonstration with pastels I was hooked. Over the last few years I have taken pastel classes and attended pastel workshops. I am mostly inspired by nature and my photography is an endless reference for my paintings. The experience in photography has helped with many aspects of my art, and I take my camera almost everywhere.
I seek to improve both my art and photography with hard work and ongoing learning from other artists. As you will notice, water is a favorite theme of mine! I hope you will enjoy the images on this website.
