Everyone needs a passion and I have found mine painting with watercolors. Until last August I lived and painted in Vermont for over 30 years. Painting the landscape provides limitless possibilities and the ever changing light offers much inspiration along with the challenges associated with the medium. My paintings are bold and colorful impressions of the places I visit and the vistas I capture around my home and beyond.
It’s all about the process not the results. It’s about staying in the moment. First steps: a value study determining the mid values. I have to get to know my subject and get it on the watercolor paper in a pleasing manner. After several workshops I find that a three stage process works best for me.
I paint primarily from my own photos, however, I especially enjoy plein-air painting with friends when the weather permits.
I paint most every day and currently teach a weekly class at the Norfolk Senior Center. I hold a signature membership with the Vermont Watercolor Society and am a former member of the board of directors and an associate member with the New England Watercolor Society.
