The Franklin Art Association was established in 1971 to provide a forum for the promotion of visual arts; for the preservation of the finest artistic traditions by means of exhibiting works, conducting classes, lectures, and sponsoring other activities favorable to artistic expression and to provide friendly exchanges among painters, photographers and those interested in the fine arts.
February 5th FAA Meeting
Our February 2025 will be on Wednesday, February 5th, at the Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill St, Franklin, MA (directions), with a short business meeting at 6:30 followed by a presentation by our featured artist Erin Spencer. She is a landscape oil painter living in Rhode Island. You can expect her demo to give insight into her process. Erin considers observation her greatest teacher. Painting from life outdoors can be overwhelming, leaving the artist baffled as to where to begin. During her demo, Erin will discuss how to approach simplification as a landscape painter. Whether working en plein air or from field sketches in her home studio, she finds that making a painting is like a making a poem, distilling visual information into a unique interpretation that gives new perspective. She hopes her paintings feel timeless and personal, like accessing a memory. Erin’s work tends toward American realism mingled with tonalism. Erin lives with her husband and their three children in Barrington, RI. She has been exhibiting since 2009, and her work can be found in private collections across the country as well as around the world, including Europe, Australia, Israel, and Japan.
FAA meetings are free and open to the public.
